February is disappearing rather fast now with only one more Saturday left before we hit March. The mornings are certainly much lighter and as for the evenings,it’s almost light until 6pm now. Another month and the clocks will change and spring forward, at last we will be able to do a little more in the garden at home after finishing work. I still can’t believe the amount of rain we had, everywhere seems so water logged and it’s a surprise for us this Saturday, it’s the first one in 6weeks when I shouldn’t be raining, that is going to be so nice indeed.
Well it’s confession time, I was planning to do a six from a clients garden this week but I got caught up in the rose pruning so umm I didn’t get around to it sadly, so somehow I managed to get another six from my own garden, helped with a bit of sun I may add!
Primroses to me signal the start of spring and even though this is a large flowering hybrid, it just looks full of promise and very delightful as well
Ahh yes there will be a couple of snowdrops I think this one is called Sibbertorf white and it’s one of the pure white forms with only a tiny bit of green on the flower
And then there’s Rosemary Burnham, one of my all time favourites, I love theses forms with green veining on the petals
My paper white daffodils are nearly flowering, a tad earlier that I planned as they are under planted with some crocus, that Um where supposed to come up first and the paperwhites in end of April, oh well that’s gardening!
My prostrate rosemary is just starting to flower once more I love having this in an old chimney pot, I think it really enhances the flowers and foliage,
My beautiful Edgeworthii is now open and in full flower, the courtyard garden is filled with its stunning scent but it was totally amazing to see my first butterfly of 2018, a red admiral, land on it and feed on its nectar. Wow took my breathe way!

Butterflies already! wow! My oldest rosemary bush is flowering a lot more than I remember it doing. Is it trying to tell me something?
I hope not 🙁normally means they are on the way out if that’s happening 🙁 yes the butterfly surprised me as well

That butterfly is amazing, but does no one go a bit ga-ga over the edgeworthii? No wonder the butterfly showed up. Love the snowdrops, too, but that daffodil is surely something else. And prostrate rosemary? To great things in one plant? Where’s my Plants Wanted notebook? Great bunch of stuff in your garden this week.

I have to keep telling myself that I don’t really see the appeal of snowdrops. Truth is I’m afraid to look too closely for fear of getting hooked. I have the collecting gene, it has to be kept in check.

A red admiral in February? Crazy but yes, beautiful. I love snowdrops and have been trying to photograph from underneath but failed slightly! I have many different varieties but don’t know any so I need to look into this more as I too, love them. X
I was quite surprised as well, went to paultons yesterday and saw another one! Lol you need to get into some rather difficult positions, I was caught on film on Tuesday lying down on the job near a ditch, not too sure how much I will have to pay to get the rights 😂😂😂 just be careful it’s so addictive! How’s the garden coming on, looked like you took on some great projects during halfterm
Yes we are digging a pond but it’s hard work so it will take a few more weeks I expect as work again tomorrow. Yes, I have these beautiful snowdrops popped up in the garden with lots of detail. I think I could be falling for them……

Fascinated by your paperwhites. Is it the sunny position of your pots I wonder? My garden daffs are only just in bud, don’t think I’ll see a flower for while. Patience is a virtue…. Love the white primula too and the butterfly is amazing – must have followed that scent into your garden.
I love that you include so many snowdrops in your sixes, given that I’m even less tempted than Jim. They crowd out other things that might start me salivating. Had a few bees here but no butterflies yet. I’m now at that fretting stage of wondering whether the daffs will hold off flowering till March 1st but not beyond!
